FORGIVENESS
A
Stepping
Stone or a Stumbling Block
Forgiveness
is a way of life for a child of God. So, let’s not let unforgiveness trip us up. It
can be a stumbling block on our path to blessings. Will we use forgiveness as a step to a higher
relationship with our Lord, or will we stumble over this block of the enemy and fall on our faces?
We
will just have to get up…again. Eventually the forgiveness will come, but why wait when
it can become a constant way of life as we have many opportunities to Practice.
Let
us forgive God, ourselves, and others. Let us keep our eyes on the Cross because it is all about
forgiveness. Jesus is our example and to be more like Him, we must practice forgiveness constantly.
Matthew
18:34-35 describes the TORMENT we feel as a child of God when we cannot forgive from our heart, another
child who has trespassed against (taken advantage of) us. “Seventy times seven,” our
Lord says; Seven being His perfect number.
And
Matthew 5:7 says, “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.”
Forgiveness
is a constant way of life for a child of God. Not by power nor by might, but by the Spirit of
God that dwells in them. It is a choice…to be like Jesus.
As
we Practice Forgiveness…we are Practicing LOVE.
