A PROPHET?
Who me? “Lord? Surely not me. How
could You ever use someone like me as a prophet?”
Have
you ever asked God this?
I don’t believe God wants to keep secrets
from His children. I believe He wants them to hear and understand little by little until they
can grasp the whole picture.
How can a woman explain what it’s like
to be pregnant, to someone who is not? Oh, others can see on the outside, how her body is changing,
but they can’t totally relate to what she is experiencing day by day, minute by minute on the
inside. Something is growing inside her and will be birthed at the appointed time.
That’s what I think Amos 3:8b means. “….the
Lord God hath spoken, who can but prophesy? My interpretation is “Who can keep from saying
what the Lord is revealing and wants His people to hear?”
There was a time in my life, even recently,
that the word “prophet” had little meaning to me. I hardly noticed it when I read
the Bible. Just as, the first 35 years of my life, I didn’t see the words “Holy Spirit” in
my Bible.
Those who have been to Sunday School, or watched
television or read the Bible, all have a mental picture of what a prophet is. I had two mental
pictures. One was of Moses standing at the Red Sea, arms raised and commanding the sea to
part. I pictured the prophets as mighty men of God, who often seemed loud and harsh, even to calling
down fire and brimstone on people.
I never considered where they came from, how
they existed, or why they existed. They seemed like loners to me. God gave them the Word…they
delivered it and that was that.
Now, I see the word “prophet” in
nearly every page of the Bible. Understanding is coming, bit by bit. Just as a baby grows
in his/her mother, so is revelation knowledge coming to the Body of Christ.
My Second Mental Picture of a prophet was those
I had seen at church. Some were loud; some were not. All I could think when I heard them
was: “Is this real? How do they do that?” I wondered about it but never
dreamed that one day, when I got Pregnant with the Word, that I would begin to understand it.
PROPHET – PROPHECY – PROPHESY
In the simplest terms I know, a PROPHET is a
person, a PROPHECY is a word given, and to PROPHESY is to speak that word. To prophesy means to
say what God is saying. That is the simple truth I have found at this time in my life.
How can we “say” what He says, if
we never hear Him? How can we hear Him if we don’t draw close to Him?
YESTERDAY AND TODAY
YESTERDAY
Amos 3:7 says, “Surely the Lord will do
nothing, but (except) He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.”
God used the prophets to deliver His Words for
the printed Bible for us to read today. Yes, they told of things to come, but they said only what
God told them to say. The Lord restrained them by His Spirit, from using their own words.
“And the spirits of the prophets are subject
to the prophets.” (I Corinthians 14:32). This meant to me that the spirit of the person
God was using to prophesy…had the ability to speak or not. Also the ability to shut out
their own thoughts and speak only the words God gave them to speak.
They had a reverent ‘Fear of the Lord’ and
would not dare say something He had not said.
TODAY
Does God still do this today? Yes!!! It’s
God’s choice; not ours. He still uses prophets today. He births them, trains them to
hear His voice, then gives them the surety of His Holy Spirit that they are hearing from Him. He
then lights the fire of the message in them so they cannot help but speak… because of their
love for Him and their dedication to His Will being carried out in the earth. Read Jeremiah 20:9.
IS GOD CALLING YOU
TO BE A
PROPHET?
I don’t know. But I Corinthians 14:31,
says, “For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn and all may be comforted.”
This
is the end times, and God is pouring out His Spirit upon all flesh. God loves us so much. Every
good and perfect gift comes to us from Him.
FALSE PROPHETS
?
The
Word of the Lord came to me yesterday, saying, BECAUSE
THE FALSE PROPHETS ARE MULTIPLYING SO FAST, I AM BIRTHING TWICE AS MANY TRUE PROPHETS.”
Are you willing to be a TRUE prophet for God
at this time? If you are, please count the cost. Look up the word “prophet” in
your concordance and do a study of what the prophets endured yesterday and today.
A true prophet
is one who is totally honest before God. A false prophet is not! God is using His prophets now…so be looking
for the false and the true. The Holy Spirit will bear witness of the TRUTH to you when you
ask. You can TRUST Him because He is the Spirit of Truth…and “the testimony of Jesus
is:
The Spirit of Prophesy
(Revelations 19:10)

He who receives a prophet
In the name of a prophet,
Receives
A
Prophet’s
Reward.
(Matthew 10:41)
