PAPER DOLL
Well,
time passes on and many do not remember when we played with paper dolls because few could afford
the real dolls. We cut out their clothes which had little tabs on the dresses and folded under
the tabs, connecting them to the paper doll. When we got one that could stand up on
it’s own, that was special. We even went to catalogues like Sears Roebuck, or even newspapers,
and cut out pictures and make our own paper clothes.
Probably
somewhere around this time, the song ♫Paper Doll♫ became popular. The time
came later in life when I would see myself as a
PAPER
DOLL
♫ I’m
going to buy a paper doll
That
I can call my own.
A
doll that other fellows
Cannot
steal.
Then
those flirty, flirty guys,
With
their flirty, flirty eyes,
Will
have to flirt with dollies
That
are real.
When
I come home at night,
She
will be waiting.
She’ll
be the truest doll
In
all the world.
Then
those flirty, flirty guys,
With
their flirty, flirty eyes,
Will
have to flirt with dollies
That
are real.♫
Over
forty years I have written so many paper doll letters to my husband, that I can’t begin to
count them in number. Some I mailed; many I did not.

I often signed them, “Your Paper Doll.”
Once
again, I can relate to God through this experience. I can understand God’s love better
now than what is seen on the surface…what natural man sees as love.
God’s
Love is deeper and wider and stronger than any ocean. It cannot be measured. It cannot
fully be understood until we meet Him in the sky. Like an earthly couple, there is only a
season that we will be apart, as we walk this earth walk. But our hope remains steadfast,
that one day He is coming to take us Home with Him. So we wait in expectancy. He will
Return! He Promised!
Paper
Doll Love Letters

Back
to the Paper Doll Letters and how I relate my love for my husband to God’s love for His Bride…His
people…His…children…His church. I often signed my letters to my husband
as “Your Paper Doll.”
The
world may say I am crazy for loving this earth man so much. I wonder if the world is saying
the same about God who loves us so much. We, who are so imperfect in each others’ eyes,
judging by outer appearances and actions, rather than looking at each others’ hearts.
God
loves us so much He sent His Word, (Jesus and the Bible), FULL of His Love Letters to us.
There
was a time that I knew my earth husband would throw my love letters away without opening them. Do
many people do the same with God’s Word?
Many
of my Paper Doll letters convicted my earth husband and made him feel guilty when I was trying
to show him how God’s way would make us both happier. What I meant for good, he took
as evil. My love letters, like many of God’s, were misunderstood because the recipient
did not understand the Great Love God had for him.
Many
of the Paper Doll letter, I confess, were quite “needy”, which is something we try
to avoid in the natural. I needed his love, approval, trust, and acceptance. I desired
it more than anything on earth…next to God.
Does
God ever humble Himself enough to “beg” for our love? I know you don’t like
that word if you have any “religion” left in you by now. The word “plead” for
our love, just does not have the same depth as “beg” when we are desiring mercy. And
asking for something we are so longing for that it nearly consumes us.
I
believe Jesus is begging for His Bride to come to Him. One way is through the Holy
Spirit who woos her and shows her the emptiness in her life. As she searches the world for
what that emptiness is…through prayers of those who love her, I believe the Holy Spirit
will open her eyes and she will receive her One True Love.
Well,
you can see many other examples. Specifically, that God has never been ashamed of His love
for us. Neither were/are His prophets. He sent forth His Word (Love Letters) in writing. His
Precious Word.
The Paper
Doll has a happy ending because she becomes REAL for those who cherish God’s Love Letters. When
they Believe that God loves them no matter what. When they understand that He couldn’t
help Himself; He just had to write a love letter (the Bible) and tell His Bride how very much
He loves her. He couldn’t stop Himself because He Is Love.
This
is just one example of God’s Love for us and a way for Him to reveal His Love. Let’s
take advantage of the lesson.
I
can’t help but wonder is someone who hasn’t loved “Deeply Enough to Hurt”…has
ever experienced True Love.
REMEMBER
THE CROSS╬
It Hurt
A Lot!
