MY MY MY
“My” “My” “My”,
how often have we used that word? A little child learns early to say “Mine.” “My
toy.” And if he isn’t taught different, he will continue to claim and take all the
toys.
Let’s be aware of that word today, “My”. We
can hardly talk without using it. If we can’t hear our own selves, let’s listen to
others today and see how often we hear that word.
I use to collect people and have not entirely
overcome that habit, but I am working on it. One by one I had to let them go and give them back
to God. They were never mine to begin with, our Father just shared them with me. “My
daddy, my children, my husband, my athletes, my students, my grandchildren, my house, my car, my girls
(Bible Study), my ministry, and the list goes on and on.”
What I realized, was, that if I claimed sole
ownership of all these people and things, I began to be burdened down with the idea that I was totally
responsible for their outcome and finished products. Since I knew only me (kind of), I would have
the tendency to make them like me. Ouch!
Yes, I believe God gives us precious Gifts and
His gifts are without repentance. I believe that all He has is ours and all we have is His, but
when we continue to attach the word “My” to everything in our life, I just wonder if we
are not forgetting that “Everything was created by Him and created for Him.” (Colossians
1:16). I just wonder, if we slack off in sharing these gifts with God. They are all His.
DARE WE SHARE TODAY?
It seems like a wonderful way of being courteous and honoring God, if just one day, we decided NOT to use the word “my”.
