LEVELS
OF SPIRITUAL
COMMUNICATION
FRIENDSHIPS
Sometimes
I just like to sort my friends as far as our relationships. How close are we?
I
am recognizing several levels of spiritual communication this morning. I am not judging anyone
as to where they would honestly place me on their list. This is not the issue for me today. My
assignment is to see where I have placed them on my list. Many of these levels can change at
any time, but I bring my world into focus today by grouping my friends and acquaintances.
The
very highest level, of course, is when we communicate with Father God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit. The
great connection of this relationship is that we can always be in total agreement with God. There
is no argument with Him about who is right; who is wrong; who knows better than the other. This
is the most peaceful and satisfying relationship.
The
next highest level of spiritual communication (friendship) for me at this point, is one that I share
with only two people who are presently in my life. In the Spirit, we are not only hearing the
same things, but are excited about sharing with each other what the Holy Spirit is revealing to us. God
often uses us to confirm for the other one, something that He has shown us privately.
These
friendships are set up for us by God for a purpose. We don’t make regular, scheduled,
visits with each other, but the Holy Spirit directs us to visit from time to time…whether
by phone or in person. Each time we come together, the presence of the Lord is very strong. We
come away with more answers, love, and strength.
What
I realize about this special level of spiritual friendship is that it is a two-way deal. Some
friends you can share what God has shown you and they may agree, but they don’t share what
God has shown them. So the relationship is just not quite as fulfilling. Even though it
may be very good because they appear to accept what you share.
Another
level of spiritual relationships are those who believe you only so far, then they become skeptical. (Do
we do the same with God?) It’s okay for them to draw a line with us as we too, may need
to draw a few lines. I’m just saying that these are not in our top human level of spiritual
communication. Probably because God didn’t put us together at this time for that purpose.
I
thought this morning about four kinds of people I presently see. They are:
l. Miss Know It All
2. Miss Don’t
Want To Know
3. Miss Don’t
Know Enough
4. Miss Want to Know
Which one
are we today? :)
As
we arrange or re-arrange our furniture, it is sometimes comforting to arrange the placement of our
friends as to how they pertain to us today. Some will understand what I am sharing, and some
may not.
The
purpose of this lesson is to give you more stability in your thoughts and emotions. It is to
simplify for you that it is okay to have different levels of relationships with your spiritual earthly
friends. Each relationship is important and may trade places from time to time. They are
just different for a purpose and sometimes for a season.
The
very highest level of relationship and TRUE 2-way Communication comes in the time you spend
one-on-one with your Lord. No one will ever be closer to you than He is.
So,
if I were to sort my earthly Christian friends today, they would likely fit into one of the following
categories and I can accept them there.
l. Some who doubt me a lot.
2. Some
who doubt me some.
3. Some who seldom doubt what I say.
4. Some
who could care less.
Again,
I am not God and do not want to be, but if we, as humans, receive so much pleasure when others believe
in us…how do you think our Lord feels when we Believe in Him? Without one single doubt…being
in total agreement with Him…never having an opinion that is different from His…. WOW! That
must surely please Him.
