FISH
IN
A
BOX

In order to help someone else, we may often be required to think outside of our own box to picture what is going on in their box.
(Their life, thoughts, experiences, desires)

If we are captured in our own boxes, it’s almost impossible to be more concerned for someone else than ourselves.  We try.  But, we bump our heads against one of the four sides of our box.  These sides are like mirrors that continue to reflect us back to our own selves…our needs, our desires.  Oh, that we could get past those mirrors…step out of our box…and be free to consider someone besides ourselves.

FISHING

I’m not exactly sure how this word came to me…except it is not unusual for our dear Holy Spirit to drop an un-expected thought or idea in front of me.
The “fish” must have unlimited lessons in the Bible and in our world today.  Sermons without end, pointing us to Jesus. His way.

Considering leaving my box for someone else’s …the word FISH came to me.  First was the beautiful:
Sail-fishwww.thenativefloridian.com/images/events/costaricajanuary2005/Pacific%20Sailfish/Pacific-Sailfish6.jpg  static.flickr.com/2111/1554788632_9b945d10ff.jpg    found in all the oceans of the world. Sailfish are highly prized game fish and are known for their incredible jumps.  They are characterized by the sail (dorsal fin) which often stretches the entire length of their body.  Clocked at speeds of up to 68.5 mph, makes them the fastest fish in the ocean.
The next was:
SALE-FISH or SELL- FISH:  And I thought of fish in the market place.

A Vendor of Fish
Oh, oh…then of course, I saw:
SELF-ISH.  (Selfish).

ISH
איש
ISHA
אישה

Here comes the Xala Bread…Hebrew language put to use.  Immediately the Hebrew words came into play.  “Ish” is the word for man.  And “isha” is the word for woman or wife.
So, we combine the English with the Hebrew and we have men and women who think of themselves more than others.  “self-man, self-woman, self-thinkers”  Selfish Fish in their own boxes.

HOW
DOES THE FISH GET OUT OF
HIS/HER BOX?

First, they must recognize that they are captured in a box and that they are surrounded by mirrors that only let them see “self”.
Perhaps these two fish are in love with each other.  But, who will remove those deceiving mirrors so they can understand the other’s box; their world?

THE HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit makes the fish aware of what is keeping them captive.  The Love of God, is what sets them FREE to advance beyond their four walls of mirrors that cause them to be Self-Fish, rather than Sail-Fish.

OCEAN
 FULL OF FISH

The ocean is full of fish (people) who cannot think outside of their natural environment (boxes) as the world thinks.  There are some things that only our dear Holy Spirit can reveal.  And, HE will if we ask and listen.
At just the right time, HE will show us our boxes and mirrors.  He knows the desires of our hearts and will show us the way out…removing
obstacles of mirrors that impede communication.

Then, we can swim Free toward our friend’s box.  Who knows?  We might be able to climb right into their box with them or them with us as we learn to care more for each other than we do ourselves.
And may our friends receive this same revelation in their heart…when they see us swimming freely and ask how we got out of our box.  I pray that this will help someone.  I know it has me.  (Thank You, Lord.)
Self-fish ?
Sale-fish ?
or
Sail-fish ?

I Corinthians 13:5,8 says that Love seeketh not her own and:
  LOVE NEVER FAILS

So, let’s get out of our personal box
And
Go Fishing
Whether with a young friend or older one.  Let’s really learn to care what is in their box today.
