A TASTE OF GLORY

A CHORD PLAYED IN MY HEAD

♫  Only a taste of Glory ♫, the song continued to play in my head as I waited before our Lord this morning.
I am constantly fascinated by the way God’s dear Holy Spirit draws us to His Holy Word.  Often, one book on a given day, seems to call out to us.  Moving in that direction…we open the book…and begin reading.  Soon, one scripture attracts our attention more than others as though an angel had deliberately high-lighted it.  We may see something in that verse that we’ve never seen before when we scanned through God’s Word.
Today, I was drawn to the last chapter of the book of Revelation…chapter 22.  I especially meditated on the last part of verse 12,
“And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward [is] with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.”
“as his (our) work shall be”.

FROM GOD’S WORD

From God’s Word we know that as Christians we have an eternal life and home with our Father; that our earth walk is only one part of our existence.
This verse confirms to me that we will receive NEW Assignments when Jesus comes to get us or we go to Him.
Training – training – training.  Many of us recognize that along with being witnesses for our Lord on earth, we are also in training.  Since our training on earth never ceases, surely God has a future plan for us.
Of course, we don’t know what our Heavenly Assignment will be, but surely it has something to do with the work we have done on earth.

GLORIOUS
DAYS  ON  EARTH

Oh, we have all had some Glorious Days of Experiences on earth.  Think about those personal times, if you will.  Different folks – different pictures.  Just a few here:

Then, as you read Rev. 22, verse l-5, TASTE the Glory that will come and consider:
AS IT IS WRITTEN
(I Corinthians 2:9)

“But as it is written, EYE HATH NOT SEEN, NOR EAR HEARD, NEITHER HAVE ENTERED INTO THE HEART OF MAN, THE THINGS WHICH GOD HAS PREPARED FOR THEM THAT LOVE HIM.”

NOW, WHERE DID THAT SONG
COME FROM?

Oh yes, I finally remember.  Our son Brent made a video, splicing together special events of our family, connecting the dots of glory days we shared.  In the background he dubbed in music.
This song was especially connected to our breath taking visit to the mountains of Colorado with scenes of our family where each were young, strong, and vibrant…full of life.
Now, I stopped.  “What did those words really say?”, I asked myself.
No.  They didn’t say, “only a taste of Glory”.  The title of the song is:

THERE IS SUCH A THING
AS
GLORY

So, as we each may have received only a “taste” of Glory, let us rejoice over what will be some day.  (I Corinthians 2:9).  We have tasted some Glory on earth, and will taste more of His Glory in days to come.
But, Oh what glory that will be…when we see our Savior
FACE  to  FACE.
Yes, ♫ That will be Glory for me.
