THE RAINDROP
ASSIGNMENT
 I was going about my usual business when I realized that God
had placed a new assignment in me. The only way I can explain it, is that it felt like a fresh, clean, clear, beautiful
rain drop. Something I had never planned or expected. In my “knower”, I just knew it was from Him.
Why Are You Learning Hebrew, Gwen?
Some of you know that our Lord dropped in my spirit, or you could say,
He stirred my spirit as He did the spirit of Cyrus in 2 Chronicles 36:22.
My spirit was stirred to “Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem” just as many of you are
doing in these days. Father God is “stirring” all of our spirits to pray for Jerusalem more than ever before. Information is
rampant, making us aware of Israel, her history and her future. Prophesy is being fulfilled daily before our eyes.
Now, as we read God’s Word, Jerusalem and Israel are no longer disconnected, irrelevant,
historical events that we could not relate to in the past. Today, she’s become real to us and our connection with her is now apparent.
Why Me, Lord?
To tell the truth, I really don’t know. And for once, I am
not pushing for the answer. It’s enough that our Lord desires for me to learn Hebrew.
Will I ever become fluent in it? Perhaps in Heaven. (smile).
But, for a simple person like me…who is not a natural genius? How could this be? You
can ask my college friends who were much smarter than I. It amazes me how I have always been surrounded by highly intelligent people …valedictorians,
etc. Surely, this too, has been our Lord’s doing.
CRUMBS OF MANNA
Like crumbs of manna, our Lord enticed me to peak my interest. Of course, one of the crumbs
surely came while I was praying for the Peace of Jerusalem.
Many teachings and documentaries drew me. So I ate along the way. The final surface
steps seem clear now. When I was in my doctor’s office, Dr. Scherwyn Schwarts, the most delightful Jewish friend you could ever meet, as
he began telling me about his son’s bar mitzvah. [Jewish boy who has arrived at the age of religious responsibility and adulthood (13 years
old); ceremony celebrating this event בר-מצווה . Doctor
Schwartz was excited and so was I.
Of course, being a woman, I wondered if they had something like this for girls. The next
step “crumb” was collected the same day as I arrived home and visited with a retired Methodist Minister who has a lot near mine. They
were camping out and he informed me that he was teaching Hebrew at a university. He filled me in on the Bat mitzvah for girls.
According to Jewish law, when Jewish children reach the age of maturity (12 years for girls,
13 years for boys) they become responsible for their actions. At this point a boy is said to become Bar Mitzvah. (Hebrew:
בר מצוה , "one (m.) to whom the commandments
apply"); a girl is said to become Bat Mitzvah (בת מצוה , "one
(f.) to whom the commandments apply").

(Another Crumb)
Somewhere along the way, my first cousin Dorothy June in Louisiana, in
tracing our family history, felt certain she had found a line of Jewish blood in our family. I had never suspected this,
but cherished the strong possibility.
I STILL DON’T KNOW
I still don’t know exactly how or when it happened, but one day, I just knew that God wanted
me to do this. It was not like I personally had planned it. Neither has it ever felt like a burden that people carry when they are trying
to make points with God or man. How can I describe it?
It was like a clean, clear, beautiful RAIN DROP that just dropped in my spirit.

The next thing I knew I was connected to www.hebrewonline.com and
was taking live lessons from Israel. I don’t remember where I received this address, but God knows.
MANY CONFIRMATIONS HAVE FOLLOWED
There is not room here today to tell you about the many confirmations
that have followed. Yet, bit by bit, God reveals more to me as to “why” He wants me (us?) to learn the Hebrew
language.
I am constantly amazed by the people God’s Holy Spirit brings into my path who have received
the same desire. It is NOT a natural desire but a spiritual tug on our hearts. Perhaps to know our Lord better? After all, this is
the language our Lord spoke while on earth.
As the curtains are being drawn on history as we know it today, and our Lord is calling the Jews
back to Israel, is He also calling us home to Him, closer than ever before?
JUST DO IT!
I don’t know all the reasons. For once I feel no pressure
to know. It’s enough that my Lord has spoken it into my heart as His will for me at this time.
BODY OF CHRIST
I do understand the different parts of the Body of Christ, so I do not
presume that everyone has received this special little RAINDROP ASSIGNMENT that I received. But, if any of you have, it
would bless me personally to know who you are. God is up to something. (smile).
CYRUS, KING OF PERSIA
When the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus, he made a
proclamation throughout all his kingdom and put it in writing. (2 Chronicles 35:22). From the study notes on this
scripture, I read: “Cyrus II 559-529 BC issued a decree for Israel’s return from its exile.”
