Fresh Bread # 147
HOW TO PETITION GOD
God blessed me this morning as I was studying 5
Steps for Receiving from God. Excellent scriptures were given to help study and confirm in our spirits
the Truth of God’s Word and His desire for us to understand.
THE FIVE STEPS
l. Present the Promises (Present
your Case).
2. Pray and Worship God.
3. Make Your Petition.
4. Prepare to Receive
5. Praise God for the Manifestation of Victory!
STEP THREE
This is the one I needed today. The
one that reached out and grabbed me and reminded me that there was a better way to petition God than
the way I had been doing.
This is what the article said:
3. Make Your Petition. Seeing then that we have a great high Priest, that is passed into the
heavens, Jesus the Son of God…(Hebrews 4:14).
A. Write
your petition out as your Word-based declaration of faith.
l.)
Philippians 4:6. “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer
and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made
known unto God.”
B. Present
it to the high priest of your confession, Jesus.
YOU RECOGNIZE THAT
YOU HAVE
GOD’S EAR
You decide that you want to do this. Writing
it down makes it somehow more permanent. So, you take the challenge seriously. You have learned
how important the words you speak are, in the fulfilling of your petitions to God.
Personally, I become discouraged about the lack
of control I have had over my own confessions. I want to find a STRONG CONFESSION that I can stand
on daily…and stop all of this wavering.
I realize that I have God’s
Ear at this point, so I want to be as specific with my petition as anyone who presents their case to a
Judge or jury.
If I arrive in His presence petitioning a lot of
non-essential things, will my soul be satisfied? I doubt it. No, this is serious business. It’s
not about just anything or everything.
THINK ABOUT IT
I decided to “think about” this and
meditate on it because I needed to answer some questions for myself. Just as I began to write, I
realized that I had no idea what I wanted to petition of God.
Do you know what you want to write down as your
petition? Is it specific? Is it simple? Is it constant? I recognize these clues.
It
was as though our Heavenly Father were standing there smiling as I searched for just the right answer.
WE DON’T KNOW OUR OWN DESIRES
At this point I needed to call on the Holy Spirit
to show me what I wanted. God’s Word says that we can hear the wisdom and instruction of the
Holy Spirit. (John 16:13). And that God’s Word is sharper than a two edged sword, can
divide soul and spirit, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12). I
was seeking heart knowledge …not head knowledge at this time.
I don’t know my own heart as well as God
does. I wasn’t certain about what I truly wanted. I asked for revelation in this area. Our
dear Holy Spirit searched deep in my heart to find the simple answer.
He directed me that this petition for a basic faith
word to stand on, was not a petition for others, but just for myself, or “yourself” as the
case may be. It’s our private time with Him and our PRIVATE PETITION.
WHAT IS YOUR PETITION
Gwen?
I dismissed various possible petitions, knowing
I could have them all, but desiring a Word to keep me on track; similar to the Warriors Prayer I
pray daily. “What did I REALLY want?”
“Come boldly now to My throne.” I
heard our Father say.
Finally, it was coming from
my spirit to my mind and out my mouth. “I want to confess that: I walk daily in Your will,
Father. That
I walk in the fullness of Your Freedom.”
“What do you desire to see manifest?” He
asked me.
“The JOY of my Salvation. That I walk
in the JOY of my Salvation. That I am FREE in all areas of my life.”
MY FINAL CONFESSION
I walk constantly in the
JOY
of my salvation.
I am FREE in ALL areas of my Life.
Every God-given desire of my heart is coming to pass.
I’m looking for it and Expecting it.
GRANTED HE SAID!
And I felt Him Smile.
YOUR PETITION IS GRANTED.
You shall have what you are saying.
Continue in My Word
PETITION GRANTED!
GRANTED…
