PRAYER OF
ASAPH
Psalms 83
Dear Ones,
I still believe this prayer will give power to your
prayers as you pray it for our government and troops during this time of war. However, let’s
give Asaph the credit he deserves. Of course, I wondered who Asaph was so I tried to find out. If
you don’t already know, perhaps this will help you, too.
Also, the names of the countries translated from Bible to our day.
GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS

International Standard Bible Encyclopaedia Asaph
a’-saf (’acaph): Is the
name of three men in the Old Testament, of whom one is the reputed author of Psalms
50 and 73-83. He was one of David’s three chief musicians, the other two being Heman, and Ethan
or Jeduthun, and we first hear of him when the ark was taken to Jerusalem (1Ch
15:16-19). He conducted with cymbals the music performed in the tent where the ark was housed (1Ch
16:4,5,7,37),
while his two coadjutors discharged the same office at Gibeon (1Ch
16:41,42).
In 1Ch
25:1 ff we are told that four of his sons were appointed to conduct under him detachments of the
great chorus, the families of Heman and Jeduthun also furnishing leaders, and all took part at the dedication
of the temple (2Ch
5:12). A., H., and J. were called the king’s seers (1Ch
25; 2Ch
35:15), no doubt an official title of rank or dignity. The "Sons of Asaph" are mentioned
in later times. They formed a guild, and played a prominent part at each revival of the national religion.

PRAYER OF ASAPH
Psalms 83
Keep not thou silence, O
God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God.
For, lo, thine enemies make
a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head.
They have taken crafty counsel
against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones.
They have said, Come, and
let us cut them off from [being] a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.
For they have consulted
together with one consent: they are confederate against thee:
The tabernacles of Edom,
and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes;
Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek;
the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre;
Assur also is joined with
them: they have holpen the children of Lot. Selah.
Do unto them as [unto] the
Midianites; as [to] Sisera, as [to] Jabin, at the brook of Kison:
[Which] perished at Endor:
they became [as] dung for the earth.
Make their nobles like Oreb,
and like Zeeb: yea, all their princes as Zebah, and as Zalmunna:
Who said, Let us take to
ourselves the houses of God in possession.
O my God, make them like
a wheel; as the stubble before the wind.
As the fire burneth a wood,
and as the flame setteth the mountains on fire;
So persecute them with thy
tempest, and make them afraid with thy storm.
Fill their faces with shame;
that they may seek thy name, O LORD.
Let them be confounded and
troubled for ever; yea, let them be put to shame, and perish:
That [men] may know that
thou, whose name alone [is] JEHOVAH, [art] the most high over all the earth.

CONFIRMATIONS I RECEIVED BELOW
I had read your article about Psalm
83 before I opened the Encounters email. When I saw the Psalm 83, I thought: Gwen
must have read this; but
Then I felt No, this is confirmation of what she had received from the Lord.
SO IT WAS. Surely God is informing His people how to pray at this time.
(From a sister in the Lord.)
Below is from the article my friend sent me…after I wrote to you. |
Subject: Re:
Fw: A Prophetic Warning from Psalm 83 by James W. Goll
Psalm 83 describes vividly a troubling alignment set against a wearied Jewish state. Verses 5–8 tell
how every nation in the neighborhood (except Egypt) unites against Israel:
- Edom and the Ishmaelites (southern Jordan and
Saudi Arabia)
- Moab (central Jordan)
- The Hagrites (Syria and Arabia)
- Gebal (southern Jordan)
- Ammon (central Jordan)
- Amalek (Sinai desert)
- Philistia (Gaza Strip area)
- Tyre (southern Lebanon)
- Assyria (Syria/Iraq)
Verse 4 sounds their bellicose battle
cry: “Come . . . let us destroy them as a nation, that the name of Israel be remembered
no more.”
You could not have written a more Spirit inspired message for this day. Sooo well written !!!!!
Thanks for being obedient.
love and shalom, a sister in the Lord.
