Fresh Bread # 138

LET  GOD  SPEAK  TO  YOU
IN THE FLOW OF HIS WORD

(Does God Have A Second Love?)

This morning I had the desire to explain how God speaks to us as we flow from place to place in His Word.  Basically the way it happens for me, is that the Holy Spirit directs my thoughts by creating an interest in me to search something out.  Or, by bringing up a question that I desire to find an answer to.
Of course, it is relevant to something that is going on in my life at the time, or the life of someone I am praying for.  Everything is relevant to God, and Jesus is the Answer to all things.  So we seek to know what He says.
Jesus said:  “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of Me.”  (John 5:39).   He also promises that IF we will seek…we WILL find.
How was I to know that He would give me a great example as He led me to the answer of something I had been wondering about for some time?    And I was hearing others ask the same question.
If you already understand the first part, feel free to scroll down to the second.
THE  FLOW

Come Sail with Me as we Flow
Through God’s Word Together.

“We will “flow” in and out; up and down, over and under, and all around, confirming God’s Word with His Word.”

It amazes me how God speaks to us through His Word.  We can see ourselves as we read.  We can be convicted by it personally and encouraged at the same time.  Our thoughts can be confirmed or annulled and corrected  by the Truth we find there.
Our enemies are pointed out through old testament stories as well as the New Testament Red Letter Words.
We see how history repeats itself if we allow it.  But, God provides a way to avoid this.  He talks to us through His Word, showing us the past, present, and future.  He speaks to us individually as well as collectively.
And, by His Spirit, we are able to FLOW in and out of what happened in the past and connect it to the present (even our own) and the future (even our own).

RELATIVE

All things are relative to understanding and Knowing God Better.  The Bible situations become your situations and your situations become like those truths in the Bible.  You say you want to know God better.  Keep reading.

EMOTIONS

God even reveals His emotions to you and you can relate to Him as He does to you.  Our dear Holy Spirit can teach you of things to pray for (His will) and show you His Desires and you can relate to them because you have experienced them.

DIVORCE?

Perhaps you have given your spouse a divorce, yet you still long for them.  Or, maybe they have gone on to Heaven and you think you must remain loyal to them.  That there will never be room for someone else.
Until now, you may not have understood why you can’t stop desiring for the one who left you, to come home.

A GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY

This is a golden opportunity for you to KNOW GOD better.  There is proof in His Word, that He knows you and how you feel.
Read Jeremiah 3:8 where God gives Israel a Bill of Divorcement (because she wanted it).  Yet, He continued to desire for her to acknowledge her iniquity toward Him (verse 13) so He could forgive her.  He still sees her as His Bride; still says He is married to her, even after He granted her wish and gave her a Bill of Divorcement.

TO THIS DAY

To this day, I believe our Lord cries out for Israel to return to Him and I believe she is on her way.  That’s why He asks us to pray for the Peace of Jerusalem.  He loves Israel so much.  She has hurt Him in many ways (just as we have), but now I believe her eyes are being opened and MANY Jewish brothers and sisters are recognizing their true Bride Groom.
She was His First Love, so to speak.

ANOTHER ANSWER, LORD?

Can a woman or man ever love a second person as much as the first?  If the first one leaves, following after other gods, is it okay to seek a mate to marry from the “wild olive tree”?
Yes, I believe our Lord did just that when He used Paul to invite the Gentiles (non-Jewish) into His Kingdom.  Partially to make His first love jealous.  But, more than that, He adopted us and gave us every right that He offered His first bride.
Yes, we were grafted in to meet a need for His kingdom, that only God fully understands.
Can God love a second mate as much as the first?  Is He being disloyal to the first?  Can He truly love them both equally?

ABSOLUTELY, YES!

Why?  Because we are all one in the Lord.  For in Him, “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female:  for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
“And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s SEED and heirs according to the promise.”  Galatians 3:28,29 (KJV)

CAN  HE  FORGET
HIS  FIRST  LOVE?

Never!  But, can He love us wild olive branches as much as He loves her?  Yes!  Definitely!
He sees us as one and the same because of the Blood of Jesus!  We are all a part of the body of Christ.  We are one and the same in the eyes of God.
He loves us as much as He loves her…just in a different way.
And every right and privilege He provided for her, He has provided for us.  Sometimes I think, in a more excellent way as we entered into Covenant with Him…not by the LAW…but by HIS GRACE.  Praise the Lord!

NEW  COVENANT

Praise God for Jeremiah 31:31-34 (KJV).  The day will come when God, her Husband, will make a New Covenant with Israel.  And all will be well between them.
In the mean time, He has already made this New Covenant of Better Promises to whosoever will.
“But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also He is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.  For if that first [covenant] had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.”  Hebrews 8:6-7 (KJV)
So, Covenants of God, including marriage, have been broken.  But God will fix it, for He has ordained a more excellent way.  He has made a New Covenant for all of us.  And who is to say who is more blessed:  the first love or the last?  Is the second covenant less than the first?

LET  GO  OF  THE  OLD

As many ex-spouses are unable to let go of the Law, in favor of Grace, perhaps the following verse will speak to them.
“In that He saith, ‘A New Covenant’, He hath made the first old.  Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.”  Hebrews 8:13 (KJV)

HERESY?

Some may yell “Heresy?”, when they read these words.  And if you have not read the whole Bible, it would be normal for you to say this.  Also,
if one is thinking only with their head and not their spirit, yes, they could easily be led astray.  But, I’m counting on our Lord to give you the insight that He has given me so that you can understand that you are free to love both your First Love and Your Last.

If you are one of a pair who have been faithful and true since the beginning, then rejoice.  If you are still married but things aren’t going so well, perhaps it’s time for you to renew your vows as in a New Covenant.
As you’ve grown in the Lord, this second Covenant can have even more meaning to you than the first.

Whether this is your first, second, or third marriage, isn’t it time for you to come out from under condemnation and be FREE to love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind, and your first mate as much as your present one?
Isn’t it time for you to be free from religion and the LAW and rejoice in the FREEDOM of His love and GRACE.

?????????

This may not answer your question, but it does mine.  We are all FREE to seek God’s answers for ourselves.  He loves it when we Seek Him on a personal level.  Our dear Holy Spirit delights in explaining things to us…using God’s Word.
