PICTURES  FROM YOUR PAST

(Snapshots in your Mind)

“Jesus Christ”
The same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

(Hebrews 13:8)

Your past is just as important as your present and your future because that is who you are.
As God has been with you in the beginning, watched over you every day of your life; watches over you today, so will He tomorrow…in the days to come…and for eternity.
Jesus is the same, yesterday, today and forever.  (Hebrews 13:8).

CUERO

Cuero, Texas.  Why did our Lord bring this time, place, and mental picture album to my mind this morning?  What pictures did He develop for me to see?  What did I see?
First I saw a picture of my three year old son, sitting with me on an old couch as I read book after book to him.  Before long, he had memorized  the book and was reading it back to me.  I saw my other son (who came a short time later) in his baby bed surrounded by many young peers interested in seeing “the new baby.”
Soon the page of my mental photo album turned and I saw more pictures that I had not thought of in some time.  There was my husband at the kitchen sink, trying to fill the baby bottles and becoming frustrated when they all spilled.  I saw him placing burlap around the front door so the cold wouldn’t come in.  I saw us eating fish and vegetables that his football players brought for us to eat.  It was my first time to have fish for breakfast.
I saw an old man (my dad) pushing a baby stroller down the street with my young son in it.  I saw friends’ homes and businesses.  I saw myself sitting on the floor in the dining room…couldn’t sleep…playing solitaire and counting my contractions before the birth of our second son.
I saw the hospital and remembered the joy and struggles that came with the birth of this beautiful son.
I saw us gathering our belongings and going to stay with friends in Goliad because a hurricane was coming.  Here, I saw a dog healed.
I saw pictures in my mind of a young black football player named Roosevelt (Rosie) Hunter.  He was an inspiration to my husband and the whole football team my husband coached.
I saw the school where I taught and the Veterinarian, and Chiropractor offices where I worked.  I saw the large German lady who kept my son while I worked…and remembered how she taught the little ones to pray over their meals, take their naps, and jump on an old spring mattress like a trampoline.

Well, there were many more pictures, but you get the idea.  One picture led to another and each has a special story to tell.  For some of you, I hope this encourages you to open your own spiritual picture albums today.
And as you do, I pray that you are considering this verse:  “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things [are] honest, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] lovely, whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue, and if [there be] any praise, think on these things.”  (Philippians 4:8).

Why Cuero?  Like my granddaughter Sarah-Marie often says, “I have no idea.”  I guess He just wanted me to look at the album with Him.
I think He wanted to remind me that HE was ALWAYS in the pictures of my life.  And for His own purpose, He chose Cuero today.
Some chapters in our life, we tend to forget, but God treasures them and the Holy Spirit reminds us and will expound upon them for us, revealing so much more about the pictures than we understood when they were being taken.
Yes, God has been with you from the beginning, watching over you through each chapter of your life; watching over you today.  So will He tomorrow…in the days to come…and for eternity.

God was with you when you walked in the flesh.  How much more so now that you walk in the Spirit…aware of His Glorious Presence.
You didn’t realize that our Dear Holy Spirit was taking pictures the whole time…and saving them in your special album…just to remind you that God was always there in each picture.
And if you are a child of God, you will see yourself in His
FAMILY ALBUM.  He cherishes every picture, of every child, equally.  Aren’t you glad to be His?
Yes, your past is just as important as your present and your future…because that is who you are.  As humans, we can’t help but wonder,
“What picture is our Heavenly Photographer taking today?  What will go in our album tomorrow?  Oh my, what glorious pictures will be there when our Lord returns or we meet Him in Glory?”
At this point, it doesn’t matter much.  We cherish the good past, enjoy this good day, and look forward to our glorious future.  Nothing seems to matter too much…now that we know He is with us wherever we are.  And that He promised to be with us always.  “For he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” ( Hebrews 13:5).

Oh yes, our Lord is the same yesterday, today, and forever.  He was there all the time and always will be.  Oh, how I would enjoy looking at your album with you.  Each of our albums have pictures of our Lord in them and offer an opportunity to expound upon how HE WAS THERE.
Stay Blessed…and SMILE…TODAY…because Your Picture is being taken even at this very moment.

          Love you,
          Gwen

P.S.  I think my dear friend Pops…now in Heaven, would like for me to tell you that this was his favorite verse.  Hebrews 13:8.  It also tells his birth date, 1913, June 8th.
