Fresh Bread # 118

A  HAND  EXTENDED
A  HAND  UP

God said in Isaiah 63:5, “I looked, and [there was] none to help; and I wondered that [there was] none to uphold: therefore Mine own arm brought salvation ….”.

There are many blessings that come from living alone.  One of the best is having time to wait before our Lord, read His Word, and commune with Him One-on-one.
However, there are times while sleep is still in our eyes when thoughts  run rampant through our mind:  thoughts from the past, present, and future at the same time.  That’s when the Holy Spirit directs us to FOCUS.  So we decide to Focus on JESUS.
In loneliness, which is normal for us humans, we may think, “If I had a partner to walk beside me, to take my hand and give me a lift over a current bump in my life, I could accomplish so much more.”  Well, maybe not.  You could easily be exactly where God wants you today.
However, that’s the way my emotions were running for several days.  Not really downcast, but I kept seeing in my mind, a hand reaching out to take my hand…yet, our hands never touched.

NOT  TO  BE
OVERLY RELIGIOUS

In our spirits we know that it couldn’t be just any hand.  Not just any person.  If it were a person, it would be God’s choice or our hands, like our spirits, would not connect.
There are such earthly connections.  Praise God!
But, for those who wait upon the Lord, I hope this will encourage you.

I HEARD IN MY SPIRIT

I heard in my spirit, the words from the old song instilled in me from childhood, now awakened for such a day as this.

Place Your Hands in the Nail Scarred Hand.♫

So I did.  The Hand reaching down to me is the most important Hand I will ever connect with.  As He offers His Hand, He encourages us to place our hand in His.  It’s an action we must each take.  We have a choice.  But He is always available to those who seek Him with all their heart.
          His Hand is always Available.

Human beings may Come and Go,
But
God’s Hand is Eternal.
It Lifts Us Up and Over
Praise God!

KEEP YOUR HAND IN THE NAIL SCARRED HAND

THE HYMNAL

I went to my piano and picked up the hymnal and read the words about the Nail-Scarred Hand.  May it encourage some one who is looking for a “Hand Up”.
This song was written by B. B. McKinney (1886-1952) whose son taught some of us at Baylor.  He was also a man my mother greatly admired.  [What divine connections follow us.]
I’m taking time now to type the words to this anointed song, because some of you may not have a hymnal or some may have never heard these precious words.  This is what it says:
♫Have you failed in your plan of your storm-tossed life?  Place your hand in the nail-scarred hand; Are you weary and worn from its toil and strife?  Place your hand in the nail-scarred hand.
Are you walking alone through the shadows dim?  Place your hand in the nail-scarred hand;  Christ will comfort your heart, put your trust in Him, Place your hand in the nail-scarred hand.
Would you follow the will of the risen Lord?  Place your hand in the nail-scarred hand;  Would you live in the light of His blessed Word?  Place your hand in the nail-scarred hand.
Is your soul burdened down with its load of sin?  Place your hand in the nail-scarred hand; Throw your heart open wide, let the Savior in, Place your hand in the nail-scarred hand.
CHORUS:  Place your hand in the nail-scarred hand, Place your hand in the nail-scarred hand; He will keep to the end, He’s your dearest friend, Place your hand in the nail-scarred hand.♫
