Ears To Hear # 84
“COMFORT”
“Comfort
ye. Comfort ye my people, saith your God.”
(Isaiah
40:1)

“Oh
yes, there are many who hide their hurt from the world, from themselves when possible, and from Me. But
I see their sorrow and their pain. I know many are hurting, lonely, and without comfort. I
am with them in their darkness but they don’t see Me.
“I’ve
sent many messengers to tell them where to find My comfort, but they don’t hear. Oh, that
My children would go to My Word and receive the comfort I offer them”
“For
whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning that we through patience
and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.” (Romans 15:4). Faith being the
substance of things hoped for. (Hebrews 11:1).
SUN-FILLED
DAYS
Yes,
I delight in my days that are filled with sunshine and laughter. But often while one of us may
be laughing and walking in great faith, another child may be crying and need comfort. It reminds
me of how it is night on one side of the earth while it is day on the other.
There
is a reason for our Lord to allow us to see many who need comfort at this time. Surely our Lord
is coming soon and the devil is working over time to discourage especially those who love the Lord. Those
who do not know the Lord do not have the same longings as those who have Jesus in their heart.
DISCOURAGE
THE SAINTS
(Saints
meaning the children of God)
The
devil’s job is to discourage the children of God…to make them forget His promises. When
they don’t go to God’s Word…their strength is zapped and they become vulnerable
to fear and doubt. And the distorted pictures the enemy paints in their minds.
God’s
children have sincere desires to see the Love of God poured out among all the people of the earth. Yet,
they may be seeing less and less of this.
HOLY
SCRIPTURES
PROVIDE
COMFORT

It
is in the Holy Scriptures that Christians are provided the comfort they need to comfort others. When
they read the promises of God, like Isaiah 40:5-11, they receive the comfort God prepared for them
long ago.
Verse
5 says, “And the Glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for
the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.” And verse 8 “…the Word of our God shall
stand forever.”
HOW
DO WE COMFORT?

The
greatest comfort we can give a child of God is to remind them what God says in His Word. We can
be a voice in their wilderness preparing the way of the Lord, making straight in their desert, a highway
for them to God. (Isaiah 40:3). We can encourage each other to stand strong as we prepare
for the coming of our Lord.
We
can be the arms of Jesus as we comfort one another. We can Love with the Love of God. We
can be compassionate, patient, available to hear their cries. And, when we hear their cries, if
we cannot be there in the natural, we can pray for them. But we must not ignore their pain anymore
than we can ignore their JOY.
And,
as we pray, we pray in Faith that they will go to the Holy Scriptures and find the Comfort of God’s
Word…that is life to their spirit, soul, and body. It makes them RICH in any area they
may feel poor.
Our
God is the God of all Comfort. (2 Corinthians 1:3b). It is in His Word that we find
comfort for ourselves before we can comfort others liberally and with a substantial comfort that endures.
It
is our God of all comfort “Who comforts us in all our tribulations, that we
may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves
are comforted of God.”
(2 Corinthians
l:3b-4).
[Editors Note: Well, it’s
nearly mid-night and I am just getting this message typed. I called a friend, Sandy, because I
needed comfort tonight. She comforted me with God’s Word and His Love. I’m stronger
because of that comfort. Now, I am able to comfort someone else.]
