Ears To Hear # 79
SEED
THAT FALLS
BY
THE
WAY SIDE
PRAYER
FOR THAT SEED

“Lord
Jesus, what did You do when Your Seed, the seed of Your Word, fell by the way side? I want to
be like You and know You and Your ways.
“Your
Word (seed) is so precious to me. I believe in it Richly. I want to see others blessed.
“Thank
You so much for the RICH words of your Wisdom found in Matthew 13:1-23. Each time I read it, I
receive more revelation about You.
“Father,
You gave me seed to sow. I believe You show me daily where to sow it. It has required
patience on my part with some of Your children that You chose to bless.
“Why
Lord, are some not receiving the seed? How, Lord, can I not become weary in well doing? You
said we shall reap if we don’t give up.
Gal 6:9
And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint
not.
“Lord, I desire to see the tender plants take root and become Mighty Oaks for Your Kingdom.
“What
would You have me do?”
SEED
BY THE WAYSIDE
“When
any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth [it] not, then cometh the wicked [one],
and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.
(Matthew
13:19)
Although
Jesus explained in verses 3 through 9, that all seed would not take root, and that prophesy
is fulfilled when we see this come to pass (verse 15), I believe He said this so we would not be alarmed
when this happens.
Yet,
as we may have a special person on our heart, very likely placed there by God, the seed (Word) grows
hot in our hand. And, not desiring to give up on the deliverance of this seed, we search for another
way to help this plant take root.
WHAT
CAN WE DO, LORD?
As
revelation came to me from verse 19, I underlined the words, “and understandeth it not.”
How
did the devil “catch away” the seed that the young plant received in his heart?
It
was because he didn’t truly understand it. Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word
of God. He needed more Word. (Romans 10:17).
I PICK
UP THE SEED
I
pick up that precious seed that fell by the way side…and seek to give him understanding so he
will prosper and be in health, even as his soul prospers. (3 John 2).
WHAT
DID YOU DO, LORD?
You
told parable after parable. You kept telling parables to help them understand. So,
Lord, I too will tell another parable.
AN
OLD FARMER
AND
A YOUNG
MAN
There
was a young man created by God who planned to bless him abundantly. His heart was sincere before
God. He had a good heart but as he wandered the highways and hedges of life, he was often trampled
by unthoughtful people.
One
day, a seed of hope wafted above him. He captured it, inspected it, and desired to have it for
himself. With this seed came many gifts that would cause him to prosper.
He
thought that seed would bloom by itself the rest of his life. He was excited, expectant, and delighting
in its beauty and promises for a better life.
What
he didn’t seem to understand was that the seed was in him. And it had to be nourished
every day for it to grow.
Without
this understanding, he left the seed to itself. He went about his usual work schedule, doing things
as he always had.
One
day, he looked at the plant and wondered why it was no longer beautiful, healthy, prosperous, and refreshing. It
was wilting; falling over, turning brown…and ready to die.
The
young man still didn’t understand. He felt he had been deceived again…stepped
on and crushed. All these promises he saw in the seed that first day seemed to have been stolen
from him while he was busy finding his own ways to make the plant grow.
He
still did not understand that the tender plant which carried so many seeds of promise, required
that it be watered by the Word.
An
Old Farmer came by and saw the tender plant dying; fading away. Many
times He tried to tell the young man what the plant needed, but the young man was too busy to listen. In
his youth, he thought he knew better than the Wise Old Farmer.
So,
he continued to live his own life, expecting the plant to grow on its own.
A
day came when the young man remember the seed experience. He thought about the plant and
decided to go look at it.
Guess
what! It was gone. There was no trace of it; not even a root. All his dreams and hopes,
stirred by that first seed, were gone. He was sad.
Then
the Old Farmer came along and seeing his sadness, said, “All is not lost. I can give you
a New Seed…with new hope, fresh beginnings, prosperity in all areas of your life.
“But,
you must be willing to spend at least one hour a day watering it with the Word…so that
its roots will grow deep and the elements of the world (wind, rain, storms of life) will not stop it
from growing.
“Then
one day, like you, it will become a mighty oak where others can rest in it’s branches or sit
beneath its shade. You will become an old farmer (mature) like me and teach the other seedlings
the best way to care for the seed the wicked one desires to steal. Don’t let him
have your seed.
“Receive
this fresh seed I am offering you. And try again. You can make it happen. If
you are willing and obedient, you shall eat of the good of the land.” (Isaiah 1:19).
The
young man received the seed, committed to taking care of it, and the seed grew into a mighty oak whose
substance remained in him. (Isaiah 6:13). And it prospered all those around
him as it produced more seeds to prosper others.
THE END
“It is
like a grain of mustard
seed, which a man took, and cast into his garden; and it grew, and waxed a great tree; and
the fowls of the air lodged in the branches of it.” (Luke 13:19)

And the young man grew in favor and
statue with God and man…and went about sowing precious seed. He understood now, how to
sow and care for
The Seed
