Ears To Hear # 68

THE EMPTY CUP

FEAR OF THE EMPTY CUP

“Good Morning Father. Good Morning Jesus. Good Morning Holy Spirit.” I greeted our Lord this morning.
And He said: “When your cup is empty…wait for Me. I will fill it up. Trust Me! I will never leave you empty.”
         “Really, Lord?”
“Really! Not only will I fill it…but I will fill it to overflowing.
“Each day is a new way to serve Me. I know the desire of your heart is to serve Me. I’ll show you where to go and what to do.”

FEAR OF THE EMPTY CUP

You awake and find an empty cup. All the faith it carried yesterday has disappeared. You think of the verse where David cried out to God and said, “…take not thy Holy Spirit from me.” (Psalms 51:11b). And your heart cries the same as David in the next verse, “Restore unto me the Joy of thy Salvation: and uphold me with thy Free Gift.”
Then, for some reason you begin to picture all the dishes you washed last night. Hot soapy water, scalding water that rinsed and purified the glasses and cups until they sparked; then after they dried, were set neatly on the shelf, ready for the next day. Empty now, but clean and ready for service.
If dishes must be washed on a regular basis, cleaned out and prepared for something new, why should we be surprised to find our spiritual cups empty when we awake in the morning?
We know that every vessel has a purpose. We can fill our natural cups, but only our Lord can fill our spiritual cups. And we must wait upon Him to do that. “Those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run and not be weary, they will walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31). Teach us Lord, to wait.

A TASTE OF HIS SPIRIT

Having tasted the filling of our spiritual cups by our Lord, we are never satisfied by less. We want more of that same filling and we seldom know what He has planned to pour into our cups each new day.          So we wait…take a deep breath…exhale…and release our will and thought for His. We seek His will; His filling above all others. We want to hear His Voice clearly. We delight in His ways. We desire His presence. We want to hear what He has to say to us TODAY!

A FRESH CUP
                  A FRESH DAY

As God creates each new day out of nothing, we should not be surprised when His desires to give us an empty cup each morning. Yesterday is gone. Today has glorious possibilities of its own.
So I exhort you today, to present your fresh, clean, empty cup to our Lord. Allow Him to fill it with the anointing of His Holy Spirit. Receive your portion with JOY. Only He knows what is best for you today. Let Him fill your clean cup.

OVER-FLOW

No longer will your cup be empty, but it will gradually rise to the top and begin to over flow with blessings from your Father as you allow Him to do the filling.
You may see your empty cup as useless, but God sees it as potential. He will fill it every morning as you present it to Him. As His Bride, we are receivers. As the Groom, He is the Giver.
We have nothing to give Him that He has not given us first. So we gladly now present Him with our empty cups; with a strong assurance that He will never leave us nor forsake us. (Hebrews 13:5b).
He will never leave our cups empty. As we wait on Him daily, He will always Fill Our Cups…even to overflowing because He says: “Beloved, I wish above all things that you may prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers.” (3 John 2).
It is His will to Fill our empty cups daily. We must know God’s will before we can submit to it. So, we “submit” to His daily filling of our cups.
It is better to allow Him to fill our empty cups than to try and fill our own in our natural pursuits. It is better to hear from God than to hear from man or lean unto our own understanding. (Proverbs 3:5).
In a day when God is speaking so clearly to His children, we demonstrate great wisdom and receive abundant Peace when we are able to “Be Still” and let Him…fill our empty cups…with His Love and Daily Direction.

WILL YOU GIVE HIM YOUR EMPTY CUP
TODAY?

Will we give Him our empty cups today? And tomorrow, and the next day, and the next?
I have chosen to do that today…and as a reminder for the days to come, I have placed a very empty, natural, clean cup beside my bed where I meet with my Lord each morning. This is to remind my flesh that God will fill it EVERY MORNING as I wait for Him.

         HE IS FAITHFUL!
                  PRAISE GOD FOR EMPTY CUPS!
PRAISE GOD FOR THE ONE WHO FILLS THEM
                                     WITH ONLY GOOD THINGS.
                                               WE TRUST HIM!

WE’RE READY LORD
WE KNOW YOU WILL
COME AND FILL OUR CUPS DAILY
BECAUSE WE ASKED
AND
ARE WILLING TO WAIT.
THANK YOU LORD FOR FULL TO OVERFLOWING CUPS TODAY!
