Ears To Hear # 67
DID YOU FORGET
TO
FORGIVE?
70 X 7
Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee,
Until seven
times: but, Until seventy
times
seven.
Mat 18:22
This is a quick word this morning,
but very important. When your spirit is restless and you wonder why, come to the Lord and He will
show you. I love Isaiah 1:18 where He says: “Come now, and
let
us
reason together.”
It could be a small thorn in you
flesh that you have not recognized, but He is gracious to bring it to your attention. Not to condemn
you, but to bring you awareness and comfort.
So,
as we reasoned together this morning the question came to me:
“Did
you FORGET to FORGIVE?”
I think I did. I forgot that
forgiveness is a constant way of life. Seventy times Seven is more than a one time thing for us
as we walk this earth.
It’s not so much the big
things, but the little splinters that make us so uncomfortable. It’s those little splinters
that we cannot see. But God is so gracious to show us when we come and reason with Him. The
Holy Spirit will reveal them to us when we ask.
We might be so deep into the Word
that we are not aware of something that seems so small and we have forgotten. It may not come as
a strong sermon, but just a quick awareness to us. Like, “Have you forgotten how to forgive…like
70 X 7?”
Somehow
I knew I had not forgiven some big issues in my life. Although I said I had, and I sincerely wanted
to, I did not feel the forgiveness I wanted to feel.
How
awesome is simplicity. The
way to reach true forgiveness for the big things is to begin forgiving every little splinter that
you see every day. Start with the little irritations and offences, then it will be easier
to forgive the big ones. This includes yourself and all the mistakes you made in the past, have
already made today, and will make in the future.
As many times as God has provided
forgiveness for us, let us go and do like wise. Much more than seventy times seven…. It
is a constant!
There was a time when I saw everyone
else perfect except myself. So, I didn’t have a need to forgive others. But, now that
the Holy Spirit has opened my eyes to some degree in this area, I can see where no one is perfect except
God. I can SEE that everyone needs forgiveness.
Christ is our example. So,
as He forgave us all, let us pattern our lives after Him and continue to scatter seeds of forgiveness
to cover the many seeds in the world of unforgiveness. Little seeds will become mighty oaks.
And all of this, from a quiet
time with our Lord. All of this from coming together with Him and allowing the Holy Spirit to remind
of us of some basics we have forgotten.
Today, let’s practice “forgiving
in every aspect of our life.” Let’s return to the Cross where God made us white as snow
in His eyes. And it is His eyes, after all, that really counts. The only way we can see ourselves
as white as snow, is when we know we are forgiven. This is also true for others in our life. As
we forgive them, we can walk in a fresh newness of life, like the whiteness of driven snow.
Isa 1:18
Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they
be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
PRAYER: “Every
step I take out of Love today, Lord; every step I take away from “forgiveness”, I pray Your Holy Spirit will remind me. Thank
You, Lord.”

COME AND
LET US REASON. YOU ARE FORGIVEN!
