Ears To Hear # 50
TAKE UP THY CROSS
FOLLOW ME
“Little Crosses”

There was a long season of my life where I was willing to allow Jesus to carry the Cross for me…for
all of us. I didn’t know Him well enough, nor, did I know His Word well enough, to understand
that we too, would have crosses to bear. I was in denial. I was into “positive thinking” which
is not always reality. Nor, is it always a bad thing.
The
day came when I said, “I want to know you better, Lord.”
What
greater way to know someone than to experience what they experience?
Many
days the words of the old song play in my heart as a leading for my steps that day. “Wherever
He leads, I’ll go. I’ll follow my Christ, who loves me so. Wherever He
leads, I’ll go.”
THIS MORNING
This
morning I saw a picture in my mind of Christ carrying a BIG CROSS up the hill. And behind Him
were many of us following; carrying our little crosses. He said, “Follow Me.”
I
looked down at my Bible and saw His words in red. “It is enough for a disciple that he be
as his master, and the servant as his Lord.” (Matthew 10:25).
I SEE OTHERS CARRYING
THEIR CROSSES
I’ve
seen others carrying their crosses but never realized that I had a few of my own. I complained
and whined about my crosses. In the back of my mind where Satan hid, I felt that my crosses were
a punishment for something I had done wrong. So they became too heavy for me to bear. I
was nearly crushed by the weight of them.
Then
I read the second half of this verse. Jesus said: “If they have called the Master of
the House, Beelzebub (Satan), how much more shall they call them of His Household?”
HOW DID JESUS CARRY THE
BIG CROSS?
Gladly! Knowing
He was innocent. Knowing He was doing it for others. Knowing what He did, would make
our little crosses so much lighter.
HOW TO CARRY A
“Little
Cross”
“Must Jesus Bear the Cross
Alone?”
If
you recognize a cross in your life today, please examine how you are carrying it. With a smile on
your face? With a hope for the day of Resurrection? With a willingness to bless
others who also have a cross to bear? As an example to others as Christ is to us? Not
weighed down with guilt and condemnation because Christ made you innocent the day HE went to
the BIG CROSS for you.
Oh,
how light our crosses become when we understand that there is a purpose for us to follow in His footsteps,
getting to know Him better…and praising Him for each opportunity to be a witness to what He
has done for the whole world.
Are
we carrying our crosses with a SMILE TODAY, remembering how small our crosses are compared to His? Once
we are willing to follow Jesus, wherever He goes, I pray that whatever cross we are carrying
today, will be turned into a glorious testimony of His Love.
NOW!
Now! Does
your cross feel lighter today? Almost as though it is not even there? Praise God! Just
follow Jesus! Wherever He leads today. Your burden lifted; your sorrow gone, hope and innocence
restored by the Lord of His Household.
BIG CROSS
little crosses
Carry
with pride and dignity…because you belong to Jesus and are of the Household of God.
