Ears To Hear # 49
NOT MY WILL BUT THINE
Oh, LORD
Jesus
said: “Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but
thine, be done.” (Luke 22:42). And, “Thy will be done in earth….” (Luke
11:2).
A BIG STEP
This
is a BIG STEP in our lives when we sincerely make this choice to receive His Will over our own. Often
we are not certain of His will in daily situations. But once we have committed to that agreement,
we begin to practice it…usually in larger challenges.
TODAY
Today,
I had a lesser challenge when I was torn between giving my precious dog to a friend or keeping him. I
had considered many pros and cons of the issue, but did not know definitely what our Lord had planned
for me in the days to come.
It
had seemed like the perfect match…man and dog; a rancher and a good side-kick. But
the man’s wife, also my friend, talked to me and I understood that they were not in agreement. I
did not want to cause strife.
My
first impulse was to pray that she would change her mind and that they would come into agreement. I
truly desired what was best for all concerned and only God knew that.
So,
as I walked from the kitchen through the living room, I heard myself saying, “Thy will be done,
Lord.”
An
unexpected Peace came over me and I was able to proceed with other plans for my day. I realized
that this had become more of a habit than before. It had become much easier to say, “Thy
will be done.” And I knew it would be.
Whether
large or small issues, our Father is concerned about everything that concerns us. We can
TRUST HIM.
And
if we have ever made this commitment to Him…I truly believe He moves on our first sincere desire.
Our only
struggle is when we forget the agreement we made and begin to push the Lord for answers ahead of time. He
IS working all things out according to His Will…in answer to our first request. He knows
our needs and desires much better than we do. Praise God!
Now
I can go where He wants me to go today and do what He wants me to do, without worrying about or being
distracted by Banjo’s Plight. If God thinks I need to keep my good buddy, then GOD KNOWS
BEST. God knows what tomorrow holds.
The
contact I made with this couple sounds like a “knock at my door” to pray for them. Remember
the lesson on “Who’s Knocking At Your Door Today?” [Ears to Hear #36]
God
can use even little dogs to bring people together. Wherever He leads today, let’s go; walking
in the Freedom that today brings. His Will is being done over our own…because we asked
and believed that He would do it.
NOT OUR WILL…BUT THINE
OH LORD.
“…nevertheless
not my will, but thine, be done.”
Never-the-less…but
always Something More.
