THE WHEEL
IN
THE
MIDDLE
OF
THE
WHEEL
One
of the many things I love about the Bible is the way the Lord is able to speak to us according
to the knowledge we have…not what we don’t have. No one can know or understand
the whole Bible because no one can truly grasp the whole knowledge of God. But we can know
Him and He knows us.
I
love the way the Holy Spirit allows us to read a scripture as He connects it with experiences in
our own lives, either present or past. What a great Teacher,
The Hand
of the Lord was on Ezekiel (Ezekiel 1:3b) when He gave him the vision of the wheel. As
I read that chapter, I kept thinking, “The wheel in the middle of the wheel. The
wheel in the middle of the wheel. The wheel in the middle of the wheel.” (Ezekiel
1:16b). I thought about how it spoke to me personally and hope it speaks to you in a special
way.
The
Leading of the Holy Spirit
Having
learned that the shortest distance between two points is a straight line, I wondered why God’s
directions for me looked more like a zig zag line…to the left, to the right, go here, stay
there. But it was okay because when I questioned Him, it was as though He were saying: “I
want you flexible to go wherever I send you. I want you free to turn at the slightest tug
from Me.”
Of
course it wasn’t the way man would do things. I was well trained in the ways of man,
but became familiar with His gentle leading and awareness of His truth in given situations.
Another
time this chapter Ezekiel l:15-21 had spoken meaning for me, was when we had the Campfires. They
were home prayer groups distributed on the mountain tops in the circumference of the Hill Country
where I live. God had given me the total vision of how to organize these groups and how to
keep them in touch with each other by sharing prayer requests in a news letter called “Smoke
Signals.”
As
Ida Mae, Becky, and I traveled the mountain tops to meet in different homes, I pictured our cars
as our wheels as in Ezekiel l. Wherever we went, we were led by the Holy Spirit. We
depended on His direction and moved as one person in agreement. “Whithersoever the spirit
was to go, they went…for the spirit of the living creature was in them.”(Verse 20a). “And
their work was as it were a wheel in the middle of a wheel.) (Verse 16b).
Now
that I have a study Bible, I see that the vision God gave Ezekiel was about God’s Glory. And,
in my mind, surely the Glory of God is for us to follow the leading of His Holy Spirit…”the
Wheel without our wheels.”
How
This Relates To Today
There
are wheels turning everywhere. Wheels in our minds. Wheels all around us. How does
one know where to go and what to do? There are so many choices. Life pulling us in so
many directions. We want to do the right and important things, but the wheels just keep spinning
us, often where we never intended to go. How do we get back to the right path? What is
the right path?
“This
is the way…walk here.”, we long to hear these words. (Galatians 5:16 & Isaiah
30:21 LBP). And I am as certain as I am sitting here, that we hear them from the “Wheel
in the middle of our wheel.”…the Holy Spirit’s kind voice.
“This
is the way…walk here. Turn neither to the left or the right. Just follow My gentle
promptings. Train you Spiritual Ears to hear. Then you won’t always be doing the
wrong things, making the wrong choices.”
The
Body of Christ
I
have seen good ministries crumble and some disappear, others never becoming what God intended because
they were not being a united wheel so that ALL listened to the Wheel in the middle of their wheel…the
organization or ministry God had assigned them. God desired them to move as one, but each
pulled in their own direction and gifts, away from each other and away from the Center Wheel…both
individually and as a unit.
I
sincerely believe that when we all hear and are subject to the voice of the Center Wheel, we will
hear the same thing and move productively as one Body. Whether this be a family, a church,
or a group of Believers and friends. We will be on the Right Path, going the right way, doing
the Lord’s will. His Glory will cover the earth and we will be moving in that Glory.
A
Word For Today
As
time speeds up, and more wheels are thrown at you than you can juggle, I pray that you will find
quiet assurance by following the TRUTH and PEACE that comes from your relationship and acceptance
of God’s will, which is His Wheel in the middle of your wheel (your life).
You
can TRUST Him, to guide you in all things and directions. When all things around you may seem
to crumble, fall apart, fly away, or just spin too fast…I encourage you to stay close to
the CENTER WHEEL and let the Holy Spirit guide you into all Truth.
ACTION: Practice
today…allowing Him to remain forever the Wheel in the center of your wheel. His wheel
that turns your wheels always gently toward Peace, Truth, the right decisions. When you make
this commitment, you will not even have to be concerned about where the Big Wheel is taking you
next in life. You know your wheels belong to Him and wherever He takes you will be fine with
you…because you Trust Him To always remain the Center of your Life as your spirit
is connected to His Spirit.
Now…
Let Go…and enjoy your day. Your wheels have
been oiled and prepared for this day because you read His Word and fellowshipped with Him. He
will guide you, placing His desires in your heart and you won’t even have to think about
where to go and what to do. God already knows where He is taking you today. He’s
just glad that you Trust Him and are in agreement to let Him take you where He chooses
for you to go today.
