Development of this card: The Holy Spirit had placed this little card on my heart. I was putting off getting it drawn and the words put down. The third day, our dog had a porcupine treed near his house. "Okay, Lord. Someone needs the Porcupine Card. So here it is.
God Created and Loves the Porcupine...but He Doesn't Have Porcupine Love.
But seriously, have you ever tried to hug or kiss someone and they turned their head, or shoved you away? It feels like a thousand needles have pierced your heart.
You know this person needs love. You'd like to wrestle them to the ground, hold on, and hug them until they receive the love they so desperately need. For their sake, you swallow your pride and return again and again.
Have you ever had to get the pliars and pull quills from your dog's nose when he got too close to the porcupine? He didn't have enough sense to keep his distance. The critter (porcupine) looked harmless enough and the dog thought he could conquer him, even just to play with him.
But the porcupine had so many fears and since he didn't figure he was as fast as the dog, he just haunched down and used his strongest defense to protect himelf, whether the dog was friendly or not. The porcupine's natural instinct is to bristle up those barbed quills and let the dog bite into them or stick his nose in them.
That's when the pain begins for the friendly dog. The black tipped barbed quills continue to work their way into the enemy's flesh after penetrating it.
No, God doesn't have Porcupine Love. He will never shun you or shove you away from Him. His Word says, "He who comes to Me, I will in no wise cast out." And, "If you draw close to Me, I will draw close to you." And one of my favorites: "His gentleness makes me great."
He is here to love us, accept us, protect us. His love is warm and real and safe. He never wants to see us hurt. He is not afraid of us and does not have to put up defenses to protect Himself.
So, may I suggest, when those you love hurt you, and it takes awhile for Father God to pull out all of those barbed quills of rejection, just TRUST Him.
Run to your Heavenly Father and snuggle up in your safe place...where you are never rejected.
Remain in the Secret Place of Psalms 91:1 until all your frightened friends are gone or are no longer afraid of you. And please .............
DON'T YOU AND I BE PORKY...PINES...when someone tries to love us.
