WHAT IS NOT SIN?
MANY
THINGS LOOK LIKE
SIN
IN OUR LIFE. BUT IF THEY ARE NOT,
THEN WHAT ARE THEY?
I
personally see two possibilities, as I seek to unburden the SEED of God (His children) from superficial
weights that we have called SIN, and therefore believed they were. God wants us FREE to run with His
Good News Message of Love, Forgiveness, and FULLNESS of Him in us.
The two possibilities I am considering are: “human nature” and “steps
of growth”.
I am also considering “habits”, and “personality quirks”. This may change as
I continue seeking. I pray that you will seek also…not making excuses for ourselves, but certainly
NOT making excuses for God when HE said:
“Whosoever is born of God
doth not commit sin;
for His seed remaineth
in him: and he cannot sin,
because he is born of God.” (1 John 3:9).
I
see “human nature” as
an Oreo cookie. Just plain vanilla stuck between good and evil. Basic Creation…aside from the
spiritual. Created to work, produce, take care of family, planner, enjoy fellowship, creative, progressive,
sleep, eat…etc.
Are
there some things we do just because of our human nature…that
are neither good nor evil?
OR
STEPS
OF GROWTH
here was a poem I read recently from my email. It
was about “Get Up and Try Again.” Because
it hurts so much to “Act like the Devil”, and his seed, we are constantly desiring to be more
like our Father and remember that His Seed remains in us. It is His SEED in us that pulls us constantly
toward growth in Him. Not in the eyes of the world as much as in His eyes and hopefully in our own. Can
you see His SEED in you?

DID MAMA SIN?
(An
example of human behavior.)
My
grandmother had to watch my mother closely when she was a little girl because she was never afraid
of a stranger. She would leave with anyone who came by their house. This was in the early 1900s.
At
that time it was considered a sign of her free spirit that she was not afraid of anyone, and also a
sign of her love and acceptance of everyone.
But
times have changed greatly since then and even my mother had experiences that changed her attitude
about trusting people. She became one of those mothers who say,
“Don’t talk to strangers.”
“You can’t trust anyone.”
“You never leave home with a stranger.”
So,
beginning life the same as my mother, as a little child who loved and trusted everyone, it was many
years before I could understand why she said not to trust people.
We
come to Jesus as a little child, free to love, be loved, and carefree. To protect me, my mother drew
her boundaries so tight around me, like fences keeping all evil out, that this trusting little girl
remained a child for most of her life. Mother was protecting me the only way she knew how, from the things
that had hurt her and she was afraid would hurt me.
She
did what was natural for her to do, the best way she knew how.
Would
God use this natural action to develop me, the woman He created from the beginning; to complete the work
He had begun in me before the world began? To complete the plan He had for my life?
I
believe so. As all things are working together for good to those who love the Lord and are called by
His Holy Spirit to receive Him.
Perhaps Mother
saw in me the same things she saw in herself…an adventurous spirit, a love for
many, a quest for life to its fullest, a great competitor…a belief that all things were possible.
She
saw a strength that must be protected and probably had a fear that she could not control circumstances
that would come against me as they had against her.
So,
she did the only human thing she knew to do. She locked me in a box away from the world…as
much as she humanly could.
Did Mama SIN? …or
was she just being human?
Of course I didn’t
understand this because she lacked the gift of “communication” which
was also common for many parents at that time.
Was
this SIN or was it AREAS OF GROWTH that had not developed even in our parents at that time?
Was
it Mama protecting that little girl in me, or was it God using her Human Nature to protect me?
Was
it then, rebellion or human nature, when I said to myself one day: “I want out of this box.
I want to see the world for myself. I want to learn how to make decisions for myself and decide who will
be my friends!”?
Was that SIN on my part…or
was it a combination of:
l. Human Nature and
2.
Desire for Growth
You
decide for yourself. I personally see it all as a part of God’s Plan, bringing me constantly
closer to Him, and maturing me for His Work in my life.
I
have only begun this study. But I think we are calling many things SIN that are not SIN. We can certainly
lighten the load, even one step at time, when we see that some things we do, just because we are human,
and some things we do because God put in us His desire to constantly be growing more like Him (Jesus).
SO, WHAT IS OUR HUMAN NATURE?
Oh,
the more I think about it, the more awesome it is. Considering God’s plan for the whole picture
of our lives. I see it as: the nature that God created with a purpose. As the Father-Son-and-Holy Spirit
are One, so are we a three part being: spirit-soul-body. God created all three and loves all three. From
time to time we try to work out of just one of these areas instead of all three at the same time.
“Pull
Yourself Together”,
I heard the Lord saying to me one day. He laughed and I laughed, too. Made sense. I was so scattered
trying to perfect so many areas in my life, that somehow I had lost the completed picture.
We
were created in the image of God for a purpose. His SEED remains in us.
How
would you describe “Human Nature”…that is neither good nor bad, but useful to
the Kingdom of God ? What are the things you do that are just natural? Things you do without thinking
about them? Beyond pressure, just try to think of what is common to all humans? Without being overly
spiritual…what do humans have in common. Just think about it.
I
started this list but the more I think about it, the longer the list grows and grows.
l.
Made to walk upright
2. Desire the best for
their families
3. Go to work
4.
Care what others think about them and their children
5.
Seek success and growth
6.
Take care of essentials first;
A.
Go to Work
B.
Clean house
C.
Pick up the baby when she cries
7.
Thinkers
8.
Enjoy beauty of all kinds
9.
Want nice things
10.
Easily distracted
11.
Able to change and adjust to new situations/sometimes immediately
12.
Evaluate all things, including selves and others, and situations
13.
Always seeking growth…
(Improvement in every area of their
lives
And for their families and others.)
Once
again: I see human nature (created by God…for God and His Purposes)…as
the white stuff between two Oreo cookies.
Evil
on one side,
Good
on the other.
But,
what’s in between…is
neither good nor evil but Created
By
God for His overall Purpose. It is evident before and after Salvation.
[This
is not a new religion. I just believe that God is pouring out His Spirit, as He said He would do in
the End-times, and this is one of His ways, of setting His children free to serve. They cannot serve Him
freely when
they think every step they take and every thought they have, is a SIN. Being children of God, they
hate SIN and begin to hate themselves. The devil must really like this. When we call ourselves sinners,
I believe we are saying we are accepting ourselves as the SEED of Satan which we are not. We are the
SEED of God.] 1 John 3:9
REMEMBER THE OREO COOKIE:
HUMAN NATURE
